Wisteria Hysteria

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

We need uplifting so thank goodness right now we have the all-too-brief appearance of these long strings of sometimes dusky buds.

Nearby is the rampant 200 year old specimen, brought over from China, which adorns the front of Fuller's brewery (below). Is it the oldest in the country? "One of," says Fuller's diplomatically.

Not far off, here is the girdle of purple around the camellia house (aka The Conservatory) in Chiswick House gardens. You can't smell it but believe me, it is fragrant.

Ours is the Japanese variety, much appreciated by early insects on the prowl.
